Waiting on the Knee

I’m still waiting for my knee to get better. I would say that I’ve down graded myself from painful to sore.

A small group of expat friends are going for a hike in the foothills of a local mountain. I decided to pass, as I’m perfectly OK with walking around town with the support of a band securely fastened around the injury, but hiking is quite another story.

I spent the day at home yesterday and felt just fine, Getting in and out of bed can be a little bit painful, but overall I thank the Lord Jesus for bringing me a swift recovery

Praise You Jesus, Success is Mine!

I’m in China!

I am not a number!

Well, I’ve been in China for about a month. It still seem surreal. My son said, just last night, “I still can’t believe we’re in China.” I have to agree with him. It hasn’t really sunken in yet, but I have to say that the Chinese people are so sweet and kind.

In my apartment, I have a wet shower. One morning, when I was using the giant squeegee on the floor, I slipped and fell. It could have been worse, but I injured the ligaments that insert into the medial aspect of the femur next to the knee.

In the meantime, my son broke his arm and so we went downtown to find him a wrist/elbow brace and fortunately found a sports shop, while we were there I bought some wrist straps and fastened them together to make a strap that fits around my knee. It does the trick, so even though I’m not totally pain-free, I’m on my way to recovering.

Week 4 Interval

I skipped 2 days and ran this morning. I also skipped week three of Interval 5 K training and went from week 2 right to week 4 because I had an objection to the lyrics in week 3. The great news is that I completed week 4 with no problems. The last two days my knees were acting all wonky too, yet another reason to take a short brake.

I think I have figured out how to tackle the neck pain in running. Just pull down the shoulders. They have a tendency to creep up on me. If I pull them down the neck tension goes away.

Lisa colored my hair today, dark auburn. I think I’ll keep the color. I don’t know though. I’m kind of wishy-washy on that subject. Thinking about a dark honey/caramel color though. I’m going to talk to Anne-Marie and see what she has to say on the subject first. When in doubt, talk to a professional.

Edit: I finally did make up my mind and went blond. It was a really brassy blond and I’ll probably never do it again. I look better in darker colors.

Interval First Day to 5K – Week 2

Well, I decided to stop at the park near my house today because there looked like there was a lot of activity going on. Which is crucial, because the park is kind of scummy. I mean doggie poo and condoms on the trails are one thing, but dealing with the homeless people is quite another. That’s not to say that all homeless people are cross dressing alcoholics, but that would give one the impression that is the case based on my last run there.

Anyway, they had the loop I like to run barricaded off, but the kind man in the Aussie hat let me through. Apparently, they are going to set off fire works there tonight. Now, I’m kind of wishing that I would have driven on to my favorite running place because the ground was uneven and it kind of stressed my knees out. Which means, I have to rest tomorrow and maybe Monday too. I’m not happy about that, but I’ll have to deal with it. I’m too fat, ahem, rubenesque to push myself and then what? Injure myself, so I can’t run again. I don’t think so. I LOVE running too much to let that to happen.

Anyway, I completed the run – just when I was ready to give up. Wow! That went fast, but I gotta remember to stretch out. I keep forgetting to do that. OK, I’m making a mental note right now.

Gosh, I’m gonna miss blogging about my runs when I move to China. I sure hope Witopia will work at the university I wind up working for then I can blog and download my runs. Wouldn’t that be awesome?.

BTW – Last night was the third night I was gluten free and I woke up in NO PAIN! Yeah baby, that’s what I’m talkin’ about!  Also, just for the record, I got several long chunks of sleep in, none of that waking up every 1-2 hours nonsense and I’ve been able to cut back on the diabetes meds. How awesome is that?

Thank you Holy Spirit for urging me to run. Praise you Jesus!
